Janet Museveni named best performing minister

The First Lady and Minister of Education, Janet Kataaha Museveni has been recognized as the best performing minister, by the Buganda Leaders Caucus (BLC).

BLC is a composition of youth leaders from Buganda region.

She was recognized for her excellent works in her ministry since she was appointed education minister for the past two years.

"She has been following each and every project in the ministry carrying out endless inspections in various areas to make sure head teachers and teachers do their work. She has been in touch with the people on ground to understand their problems," Joseph Mukasa, the chairperson caucus said.

He said the committee evaluated all ministers since they came into office for the past two years.

"We were looking at how the ministers have been relating with the public, conduct, projects managed in their dockets and successes among others. We realized that most ministers did not go on ground to check on the projects being implemented and see whether they reach the intended beneficiaries," Mukasa noted.

Others ministers who were awarded include Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja (Agriculture), Frank Tumwebaze (Information Technology), Eng. Irene Muloni (Energy and Mineral Resources) and Godfrey Kiwanda (state minister for Tourism).

They also recognized Vision Group's Bukedde Television and NTV, for their outstanding news items, which have helped Government to know what is happening in society.

They also recognized Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga, Jennifer Musisi (Kampala Capital City Authority), Gen. Katumba Wamala (state minister for Transport), Gen Salim Saleh (National Cordinator Operation Wealth Creation), and Bryan Kirumira alias Bryan White for supporting the needy communities to improve their incomes among others.

Mukasa said all ministers and public servants involved in any scandal should be sacked.

"That is why we demand that people like the Minister for Lands, Betty Amongi should resign. We have many people of integrity who can serve in the same position. In fact we request the President to only appoint people who are not looking for jobs to gain riches. Many come to accumulate wealth," he noted.
