Desabre summons 23 players

Uganda Cranes coach Sebastian Desabre has summoned a 23 man squad to start preparing for two friendly matches against Niger and the Central African Republic between May 27 to June 3.

Desabre confirmed the call ups in a FUFA press conference in Mengo, Kampala.

"The main objective of this training camp is to have the players gel in preparation for the four AFCON 2019 qualification matches between September and November 2018," Desabre said.

KCCA goalkeeper Charles Lukwago who had a good game when his side beat Africa champions Al Ahly 2-0 in the CAF Champions League, is part of the squad. Assiouty's left back Isaac Muleme, midfielder s Allan Kateregga (Cape Town) and Khalid Aucho (East Bengal ) plus striker Muhammad Shaban are some those players making a return to the national team.

Midfielder Moses Opondo who features for Vendsyssel in Denmark is the new player on the national team and is likely to make his debut in Niger.

The summoned players are expected to depart the country on May 26.

The two friendly matches will be preparing the Cranes for the 2019 AFCON qualifier with Tanzania on September 7th at Namboole. Cranes who are placed in Group L with Tanzania, Lesotho and Cape Verde top the group with three points.
