Foot pilgrims from Lira leave the Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Lira Ordination Ground for the to Namugongo in Wakiso this Thursday morning.
The pilgrims from Lira to Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo for this year estimated to be over 750 with about 30 others riding bicycles.
They gathered at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Lira Ordination Ground for a retreat and final preparations for the long walk
The pilgrims leave Lira Midnight Thursday morning.
The Uganda martyrs' Day is celebrated every June 3 in commmoration of the martyrs who were killed for their belief in 1880s.
