Female cyclists dream big

 

 

KAMPALA - Female athletes, Sarah Nanyanzi, Marvin Ayebale and Hadija Naziwa look foward to representing the country at the highest level of mountain cycling championship.

 

The trio have been competing in the ordinary cycling. 

 

However, they trust to put up a challenge in mountain bike cycling championships.

 

"There are tough challenges in mountain bike competitions because the routes are rough but it is easy to win an event once you master it and avoid getting lost," Nanyanzi said.

 

Naziwa, aged 12 also said that the donation of a mountain bike she got from RedDirt Uganda is a boast to her dream of making to the national team.

 

 

"This is now a competition bike and it is going to help me improve on my performance to better the results I have been getting with an ordinary Heroes bike," the Mabira primary six  school pupil said.

 

RedDirt Uganda director Thies Timmermans donated a bike which was bought from proceeds of the Mountain bike Festival on Sunday at Lakeside Adventure Park Mukono.

 

The company also offered Naziwa school fees  sh3m for a year.

 

Naziwa is an orphan whose father died in the landslide in Nsube Mukono stone quarry in 2016.

 

Uganda cycling association president Sam Muwonge Mahaba promised to support women cycling.
