Jinja SS powered past Light SS to defend the UCA Girls Schools Cricket Week Wednesday at the Lugogo oval.

National star Immaculate Nakisuyi struck a game best 38 from 19 balls as Jinja SS won by 86 runs in front of a fairly excited crowd.

Janet Nakilanda and Stephanie Nampiina rose to the occasion managing 30 from 39 balls and 27 from 26 balls on the way to 129 in the 20 allotted overs.

Light SS, surprise finalists came shot of runs, chocking up on Jinja SS' remarkable fielding abilities. Rita Alungat managed a handful of 16 from 51balls in what was not a free scoring innings for the chasing side.

However, the losing finalists are credited for their quick progress in the game. They are yet another product from the Soroti Cricket Academy project.

Interestingly, this is Jinja SS' seventh title, remaining the most successful side in the girls's contest.
