Paul Nkata resigned as URA FC coach following his side's 7-2 defeat to KCCA FC Tuesday in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

Nkata, who joined the tax collectors at the end of the first round of the season, has failed to arrest URA's poor form.

"After the game, he [Nkata] told his players he had resigned. We shall give you details on who will be in charge of the team," the club's chief executive, Edward Kulubya, said.

On the flipside, it was a timely victory for defending champions KCCA, who have been struggling in the league.

Last week, Mike Mutebi's side had to settle for 1-1 draw against Onduparaka FC following a goalless draw against Maroons a week earlier.

Forwards Muhammad Shaban and Allan Okello were the stars against URA.

Shaban scored four times, while Okello created three goals and also had his name on the score sheet.

Patrick Kaddu and Paul Mucureezi were the other scorers for KCCA.

Saidi Kyeyune and Jimmy Kulaba netted URA's consolationa goals.

The victory means KCCA and Vipers SC, who beat Masavu 3-1 in the other game, are still in contention with SC Villa for the title in a stiff race.

Vipers have the same points (49) as Villa on the top of the table, but have a better goal difference over the Jogoos.

KCCA are in close third on 48 points with six games left to play.

Elsewhere, Soana lost 3-1 to Proline, while UPDF beat BUL 1-0 in Bombo.
