Defending Champions Aziz Damani reminded the cricket fraternity that there is only one Aziz Damani!

In a highly billed fixture, they defeated title contenders Kutchi Tigers by 5 wickets Sunday at Entebbe oval.

Just like last season where they mostly bowled out strong opponents, it was a similar tale at the weekend to further emphasise their bowling prowess.

Kutchi Tigers' Dhansukh Jesani scored a team best 43 from 76 balls to boost the batting side. However, Nanji Pindoriya's 18 from 21 balls was not enough to stretch Daman's seamers at the rather unfamiliar oval.

Man of the match Kenneth Waiswa claimed 3 wickets in a remarkable innings as Kutchi Tigers were all out for 118. Waiswa continues to grow from strength to strength as a startling all-rounder. Steve Tikolo and Brian Masaba were equally good with the ball taking 2 wickets apiece.

This was not quite a start to the campaign Kutchi Tigers had hoped for and certainly they were seen as the one if not the strongest side to challenge Aziz Damani this season.

In division two, Collin Okwalinga's heroics guided Africa to a comfortable 9 wickets win over Avengers. He picked 6 wickets as Avengers were all out for 60. Africa's pursuit for topflight cricket continues after coming so close last season.

Meanwhile, Soroti Blazers remained rampant in division three with a convincing 16 runs win over Nyakasura Saturday at Lugogo. Ivan Kakande's half century of 50 from 27 balls was as crucial for the debutants in the national league.

Elsewhere ADDT beat JACC by 117 runs courtesy of Ronald Omara's undefeated half century of 83 from 77 balls.

This cricket season is expected to get more competitive as the action continues.
