The probe wants Best Kemigisa to explain her role in the contentious sale of huge tracts of Toro kingdom and royal land to government.

LAND PROBE

Toro Queen Mother Best Kemgisa was expected to appear before the land probe team Monday over allegations of selling off Toro Kingdom land.

Last week, Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, who heads the commission, summoned Kemigisa, the mother of King Oyo, to appear before the team to explain the allegations.

The probe wants her to explain her role in the contentious sale of huge tracts of Toro kingdom and royal land to government.

Prince Patrick Kasagama last week told the probe team that Kemigisa sold 13 parcels of land to government, totaling 9,989 acres.

He disclosed that part of this land included the inheritance of his father Prince Richard Kasoke.

Commission mandate

The commission's mandate is to probe efficiency of the laws, policies and processes of land registration, acquisition, administration and management.

It is also tasked with inquiring the effectiveness of the Uganda Land Commission (ULC) in administering public land and relevant bodies in the reservation of wetlands, forests, road reserves, and national parks, among other gazetted spaces. ENDS
