Fans raise millions for Express FC

The fundraising drive is meant to help the club get out of the relegation zone and improve players welfare.

Sh34.47m in cash and pledges was collected during the Save Express FC Mukwano Gwabanji Campaign at at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku

The fundraising drive is meant to help the club get out of the relegation zone and improve players welfare.

City Socialite Bryan Whyte contributed sh15m, while a total of sh8.17m was raised through gate collections. Sh11.3m was in pledges.

Local musician Geoffrey Lutaaya who doubles as a fan of the club, Abbas Byaruhanga (Express FC fans coordinator) and  Muhammad Kakooza (charge of fans security) were  part of the organisers of the event.

The drive comes at a time Express risks being relegated for the first time since the club was founded in 1957.

The Red Eagles who are currently third from bottom with 19 points in the league, need to win more than three of their last nine games to stand a chance of surviving relegation.
