St. Lawrence schools celebrate 25 years

Almost all speeches of the day paid tribute to the founder, Mukiib,i who passed away last year.

SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS


KAMPALA - It is 25 years since an idea was implemented. It was a vision of the late Prof. Lawrence Mukiibi that St. Lawrence Schools, Academy and Colleges were started.

The group of eight private schools celebrated its Silver Jubilee over the weekend.

The celebrations, under the theme; 25 years of vivid education transformation, took place at one of their campuses, Crown City, at Katende, Masaka Road on a full-day colourful event.

The event was graced by various guests, including dignitaries from the Government, business community and academia, parents, alumni and students, with Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi as the guest of honour.

The celebrations were marked with a range of activities, including a joint mass, exhibitions, match pasts, sports and music and dance performances. Students were clad in their school uniforms, which gave the occasion a vibrant optical atmosphere.

Almost all speeches of the day paid tribute to the founder, Mukiib,i who passed away last year.

"He was diligent. He was passionate. He loved education," they said.

Students showcased various skills ranging from music, dance and the goose march.

Awards were given to outstanding students, alumni and staff.

The education empire started in 1993 with Crown City campus at Kabaka's Lake in Rubaga, Creamland in 1997, Horizon Campus in 1999, London College in 2002, Paris Palais in 2005, St. Lawrence University in 2007, The Academy in 2013 and Lorencia Junior School in 2014.
