KAMPALA-The Police have dropped charges where former Buyende District Police Commander Mohammad Kirumira was accused of taking a rolex (chapatti fried with eggs) belonging to one Ibrahim Bukenya.

According to the police disciplinary tribunal chairperson, Dennis Odwong Odongpiny, the charges of irregular conduct and unlawful or unnecessary exercise of authority against Kirumira were dropped because the witnesses lost interest in the matter.

The Police said Kirumira, being the second in charge operations at Old Kampala Police Station, together with other Police officers on January 7 2013 in Kihindi zone Kawempe, arrested Ibrahim Bukenya, a hawker, beat him with a baton and took his Rolex. They accused him of aiding a suspect to escape and detained him at Kawempe Police Station.

The Police also alleged that Kirumira, being the Officer in Charge at Nansana Police Station, on April 3 2014, together with other Police officers, arrested one Bosco Kirigwajjo, a chapatti maker at Kabumbi trading centre, Nansana, assaulted him and detained him for seven hours.

Kirumira is set to appear before the tribunal again on March 20 where more cases against him will be heard.
