KAMPALA - Embattled former Buyende DPC Muhammad Kirumira breathed a sigh of relief today when the Police tribunal dropped some of the charges against him.

This was after the Police prosecutor Catherine Tusemerirwe said Kirumira's accuser, in the Rolex case, Ibrahim Bukenya, could not be traced. She says his cell phone was switched off.

Kirumira had been accused of beating up Bukenya, a chapatti vendor, who claimed he lost his teeth during the beating. Bukenya also alleged that Kirumira took his Rolex.

Kirumira was appearing at the Police tribunal at Naguru, Kampala this morning.

Kirumira is also accused of contempt of court owing to the fact that when he allegedly walked out of the tribunal during proceedings after they had given him conditions for his bail. The case reference is Kayihura vs Kirumira and the tribunal is presided over by Denis Odongpiny.
