Edison Ogiatum who is also the principal Teso progressive secondary school explains that with vocational training, learners acquire skills thus employ themselves as opposed to graduates.

Ogiatum also lashed out at some parents who discourage their children interested in vocational training from attending technical institutes.

"You know we are faced with acute unemployment in the country and I want to implore parents out there to think as a region about alternative solutions to unemployment. One of the solutions is to channel out our children into the technical institutions," said Ogiatum.

He says the shift in attitude should begin with parents, policy makers and educators because they wield unbelievable influence on the development of vocational education.
