SOROTI - Soroti municipality mayor wants the Police to investigate the source of second-hand motorcycle and vehicle spare parts sold in Soroti town.
Paul Omer's remarks come at a time when there are increasing cases of motorcycle and vehicle thefts in the area.
According to Omer, that most of the second-hand spare parts being sold in Soroti town are got from stolen motorcycles.
"There are three categories of spare parts. The original, duplicate and second-hand. We believe that the second-hand spare parts are got from a stolen motocycles," Omer said.
Omer believes motorcycle thieves dismantle stolen bodabodas and sell their spare parts to businessmen dealing in spare parts.
He proposed a partnership between the district authorities and dealers in second-hand spare parts to report to Police individuals who approach them marketing second-hand spare parts.
Omer said this will go a long way in helping to curb the vice of stealing motorcycles and cars in hope of selling spare parts.
