There are increasing cases of murder, theft, burglary and rape among others.

A spate of criminality in Apopong sub-county in Pallisa district is worrying authorities in this area.

There are increasing cases of murder, theft, burglary and rape among others.

Peter Okello Oonyu, the LC3 chairperson said that the insecurity which is caused by a team of ganja boys has forced locals to go to bed as early as 7:00pm.

To restore order, he says his office and that of the OC Apopong police station have decided to start security meetings to sensitize the locals on security related issues.

"There's a group of youths who terrorize residents in the night. They sometimes put road blocks, beat up people, steal their money and sometimes rape girls. We ask the community to cooperate with us and give us the names of the culprits because they know them," said Oonyu.
