Man kills wife, dies shortly after arrest

The cause of his death, the Police suspect, was a result of internal and external injuries Bishamiko sustained when he was beaten up by a mob over allegedly killing his wife.

IBANDA - George Bishamiko,50, a resident of Kakatsi village in Ibanda district, who was last week arrested and detained at Ibanda Police Central over the alleged murder of his wife has died.

Suzan Tumuramye, the officer in charge of the criminal investigations department, said Bishamiko developed complications shortly after detention at the Police cells.

According to the Police, Bishamiko's condition started worsening in no time and was referred to Mbarara Referral Hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, Bishamiko died as he was being rushed to the hospital.

Evalyline Nabaasa, 35, was reportedly killed in a domestic fight in which her husband cut off her head.

The Ibanda district Police commander, Micheal Akaturinda, in response, warned couples against wrangles that could result in killing each other.

He urged them to solve their grievances amicably with the help of the local council or in their respective church leaders.
