President Yoweri Museveni is expected in Kasese district today. He is to officiate at a donors' conference for the completion of a multi-billion Better Living Centre project house under construction by the Seventh-Day Adventists (SDA) Rwenzori Field Church.
The resident district commissioner, Rtd. Lt. Col. James Mwesigye, confirmed that the President would be the chief guest at the donors' conference. The event will take place at the project house premises in Kasese Municipality.
"I appeal to all the people of God to come and contribute to the project house regardless of ethnicity, religious belief or party affiliation," Mwesigye said.
The SDA union president (archbishop) in Uganda, Pastor Dr Daniel Matte, commended the Government for the relative peace now prevailing in the Rwenzori sub-region. He appealed for discipline during the donors' conference.
Featuring on radio stations in the district, the Forum for Democratic Change legislator and Kasese Municipality MP, Robert Centenary Bwambale, urged the residents to turn up for the event.
Pastor Ezekiel Mutwanga, the SDA Rwenzori president, said over sh600m is required to roof the facility.
He said the multi-purpose facility, which will offer counselling, media, catering services and a guest house, will cost sh5.6b.
