Newly appointed Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre has dropped SC Viper's defender Shafik Bakaki ahead of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
Bakaki, who was a regular in the last two CECAFA tournament's editions, was left out of the Cranes' 27-man squad that entered residential training on Sunday evening at the African Bible University in Lubowa.
The other players who were left out of the CHAN squad include Samson Kirya, Nicholas Kasozi, Martin Kiiza(SC Villa), Isaac Kirabira(KCCA), David Ndahabwe (Express), Musa Esenu and Thomas Ikara (Kirinja Jinja SS). The others are Shafik Kagimu (URA), Abraham Ndugwa (Masavu),Brian Ahabwe, Allan Kateregga (KCCA), Patrick Mboowa (URA), Savio Kabugo (Proline) and Hood Kaweesa.
"It was a short time for me to evaluate the players, but we decided look at defensive and offensive players only. However, those who were not selected will be monitored during the league" said Sebastien after his team's training in Maroon's Grounds at Luzira on Sunday morning.
The Cranes team is expected to meet President Yoweri Museveni in Rwakitura on Tuesday before they departing for Morocco on Thursday.
Ismail Watenga, Benjamin Ochan Benjamin and Saidi Keni who are goal keepers.
Others are; Nicholas Wadada, Joseph Nsubuga, Timothy Awanyi, Mustapha Mujuzi, Bernard Muwanga, Isaac Muleme, Aggrey Madoi, Mustapha Kizza , Milton Kariisa, Gdfrey Lwesibawa, Paul Mucurezi,Allan Kyambadde, Seif Batte, Rahmat Senfuka, Tadeo Lwanga, Abubaker Kasule, Moses Waisswa, Saddam Juma, Muzamir Mutyaba, Tom Masiko, Shaban Muhammad, Derrick Nsibambi, Nelson Senkatuka and Daniel Isiagi.
