Tight security at Arua Street Jam

The red top police and army jointly with the police traffic officers and field force officer are set to man security for the West Nile Music festival with a street jam in Arua at Vino Lounge.

The street jam slated for December 31 with fireworks, live music band and entertainment from Irene Ntale and Voltage Music crew as the main performer alongside locals artists dubbed West Nile Music Festival that is also a unifying factor for the local artists.

This year's event marks the third event of street jam in Arua at vino lounge. The previous events have been marred by insecurity..

The main Adumi road street will be blocked from Hotel Pacific and Kenya Commercial Bank Branch Arua by the police and Army to provide security for the people attending the street jam.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday evening, Godwin Eyotre the manager Tulk events said the West Nile music festival is set to celebrating and reviving music and uniting the local artists. He said the security will be manned by the police and army as agreed in the security meeting they held early this week.

Partners like Tulk invests, Vino Lounge, bell lager, Africel and local artists like free boy and Gbaraspoken will welcome Irene Ntale.

Eyotre observed that, security lapses have been registered in the previous events with women being raped, properties like phones, hand bags snatched by hooligans. This he said will be controlled by the police and army who will be heavily deployed and those who plan to disrupt the event will be immediately arrested and detained.

Over 50 police both traffic and field force officers will be deployed. A team of the military police and army will also patrol the town for protection.

The public is advised to move with national IDs and any identification.

Free Boy one of the local artists set to welcome Irene Ntale said they have continued to celebrate late Innocent Nyakuta who was a good live band musician in West Nile and set the target high for them.

We still needed to embrace the live band music legacy for the people and change is a process and we are just not mediocre but in control of the music Free boy explained.

Meanwhile Gbaraspoken one of the rappers says those locals artists who still continue to fight through music need to reform and embrace the unity.

Those who fight in music do it out of ignorance arguing working together makes progress. Those who are beefing will never grow in the industry.

Gbaraspoken says Arua music Union was formed to ensure unity is flagged into West Nile and collaboration over competition. When we are together it's collaboration for progress.

Paul Odong sale manager Uganda breweries said the West Nile music festival has been greatly supported by Uganda breweries with an aim of promoting the regions talent.

Hakim Asiki the assistant regional supervisor Africel notes that, they have huge customers who use voice calls, internet and this event will provide free sim cards for people who will come with their IDs for free registration of sim cards. We shall also give out Africell T-shirt and phones to customers besides selling products at affordable prices.

Those who purchase a modem will pat with a free one GB and two GB data depending on the modem type.
