Be frugal this festive season - Kyabazinga

Gabula wished the people of Busoga a Merry Christmas and Happy New year 2018, adding that they should emphasise hard work in the year 2018 in order to achieve their goals.

THE Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV has advised his subjects to desist from spending money extravagantly during this Christmas festive season but save some.

He was speaking while officially closing Busoga Lukiiko (Parliament) for the year 2017 at the Obwakyabazinga Bwa Busoga headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja district on Saturday. It was chaired by Busoga Kingdom Speaker George Mutyabule.

The Busoga Lukiiko was attended by Royal Chiefs who head the Eleven Chiefdoms that make Busoga. The First Deputy Prime Minister of Busoga Dr. Muhamadi Lubega Kisambira attended.

"People have a tendency of spending all their money during Christmas festive seasons, but you should change and save some to enable you plan for 2018," Gabula said.

The Kyabazinga who arrived in the Busoga Lukiiko at 11:30am on Saturday, also urged his subjects on Unity, team spirit and also desist from intrigue.

He wished the people of Busoga a Merry Christmas and Happy New year 2018, adding that they should emphasise hard work in the year 2018 in order to achieve their goals.

The Kyabazinga further appreciated Government for the support it has rendered to Busoga throughout the past years and appreciated individuals such as Rebecca Kadaga, the Speaker of Parliament, for lobbying towards the development of Busoga. He also appreciated NGOs in Busoga and various Ministries under Obwakyabazinga Bwa Busoga.

Busoga Kingdom Speaker re-affirmed in the Lukiiko that members of the Lukiiko supported the amendment of articles 6 and 8 (a) of Busoga's constitution that enables the Kyabazinga to rule until his death.

Mutyabule also warned Basoga against trading intrigue in the region and rumourmongering if they want their region to develop.

Samuel Nkuutu Zirabamuzaale the Menha of Bugweri and also the Issabalangira (Chief Prince) of Busoga said Busoga has onle one Kyabazinga who is William Gabula Nadiope IV.

"The recent ceremony that was done by Columbus Wambuzi that he is installed as a Kyabazinga was false. He did it to only enjoy with his people of Bulamoji but it wasn't an installation ceremony as many said," Zirabamuzaale said.

Busoga Kingdom's first deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Muhamadi Lubega appreciated development done in Busoga under the reign of Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV.  

 "We have strived to emphasise unity, accountability, transparency and responsibility in Busoga as it is in line with the Kyabazinga's call and this is why we are here appreciating ourselves for what we have done in this 2017 year but lets pullup our socks and work harder to continue developing Busoga," Dr. Lubega said.

He said that the kingdom through its Ministries has done a lot in promoting health and educational standards plus cultural norms in the region.  

Lubega urged parents to monitor their children during this long third term holiday through showing them love.
