In what the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretary general, Justine Kasule Lumumba, described as a coincidence, the party's end of year party was held on Wednesday, on the day that lawmakers approved the lifting of age-limits for President and other local government position contenders.

"As we celebrate for having beaten them hands down in Parliament, we have a yellow party on the same day. What a coincidence," she said as she opened the dance floor for the secretariat staff and well-wishers to dance away, what she called, a tough year.

Lumumba, however, commended the secretariat staff, for being patient and resilient, as they endured the tough and turbulent year at the party.

The end of year party, which was held at the party secretariat on Plot 10, Kyadondo, was attended by Rose Namayanja (national treasurer), Richard Towdong (deputy secretary general), Dr. Kenneth Omona (deputy treasurer), Abbey Walusimbi (the head of NRM diaspora wing) and other senior cadres and employees of the party secretariat.

Todwong said it was the first time that the NRM party has organised an end of year party for its staff. The party leaders pledged to hold the party every year and also expand it by inviting other members that comprise the party organs.
