Museveni in Igara East as by election campaigns end

According to today’s program, Museveni will hold a rally in Ruhumuro Sub County before holding his second and last rally in Kyeizooba Sub County later in the evening.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will today traverse the areas of Igara East in Bushenyi District, soliciting for votes for the NRM party Flag bearer Andrew Martial.

The Igara East Constituency goes to the polls on Thursday Dec 14, in a by-election after the court of appeal in Kampala nullified Martial's election in the February 2016 general elections, following a petition by former MP Michael Mawanda Maranga.

According to today's program, Museveni will hold a rally in Ruhumuro Sub County before holding his second and last rally in Kyeizooba Sub County later in the evening.

Six people have been campaigning for support in the area ever since the electoral commission opened the campaigns three weeks ago.

The six include NRM candidate Andrew Martial, Independents Michael Mawanda Maranga, Benjamin Katana, Bernards Kananura and David Armstrong and Christine Bekunika, the FDC candidate.

FDC party's 2016 presidential candidate Kiiza Besigye spent part of yesterday in the area soliciting support for Bekunika, as the momentum ahead of the Thursday polls hits up.

Michael Mawanda Maranga, one of the candidates and a front runner in the race, spent the whole of yesterday in Kyabugimbi Sub County, where he was welcomed by his supporters in a thunderous manner and will have his last rally today afternoon in Rwentuha Town Council.

Andrew Martial will end in Bwera, Kyeizooba, Amstrong in Ruhumuro, Bekunika will have her last one in Kyabugimbi while Katana will climax his campaigns in Bumbaire.
