Vincent Kasasa surely harbours no regrets for joining Weatherhead Club some five years ago.

The coach player has helped the club land the elusive National Hockey League title following a 5-2 win over Simba Sunday at Lugogo.

The win took them to 36 points, one above last year's champions Wananchi and of course a ruling over a petition they filled against Kampala for allegedly fielding an ineligible player (Samuel Wakhisi) came in their favor.

Weatherhead received three more points rendering their last game against Rockets a dead rubber, keeping in mind that their closest rivals Wananchi are 35 points with all their games played. Weatherhead Men won their first league title in 2011.

Kasasa is looking to more years at the club after a delightful year for the hockey giants; they won the Weatherhead Open, celebrated 20 years and are now champions of the league for the second time, what more can they ask?

"I intend to stay here for the foreseeable future though will retire from playing and concentrate on coaching" a seemingly excited Kasasa said.

He has given so much for free (local hockey coaches are not paid) but then he is willing to further achieve more with the club. That is that!

As a player he is leading the score charts with an impressive 25 goals and vowed to reach 30 in spite of one game left on their card but then who knows especially when they are facing a jaded Rockets.

Now, with his future committed at the club there are plans to start up a second side of the Weatherhead Men's team as part of the long term goals with construction of a Sh1bn home facility high on the agenda.

"There is a long line of players at the moment. It is deemed right to have a Weatherhead B side" Kasasa adds.

He says they have even been loaning out players for instance Henry Kasule and Fahad Mubiru were loaned to Simba this year and hence the need for a second team. It may not be enough of a sample size but a bit telling of their ability to churn out more talent when  they must.

At the moment though, wrapping up their campaign with another routine victory is what is on the table when they entertain Rockets on Saturday.
