Red pepper editors charged

The editors are accused of defaming Museveni, his brother Gen. Salim Saleh and security minister Henry Tumukunde.

Seven Red Pepper employees including senior editors have been charged for allegedly defaming President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and remanded to Luzira Prison.


The editors are accused of defaming Museveni, his brother Gen. Salim Saleh and Security Minister Henry Tumukunde.


These are Arinaitwe Rugyendo, Richard Kintu, James Mujuni, Patrick Mugumya, Richard Tusiime, Johnson Musinguzi , Ben Byarabaha and Francis Tumusiime.


According to prosecution, the accused on November 20, at their head offices in Mukono with intent to defame the trio published an article dubbed "M7 plots to overthrow Kagame-Rwanda", which injured their reputation.


Prosecution led by Abdulsalam Waiswa says the publication subjected the trio to hatred, contempt and ridicule.


They were remanded until December 5
