Police arrest suspected quack doctor in Kabale

A 43-year-old man has been arrested by Police in Kabale over impersonation as a doctor and illegal possession of government drugs.

Elly Matte  Kigezi, the Kigezi Police spokesman,  said Alex Arinatwe, a resident of Kashaki cell in Nyamiyaga parish , Bubaare sub-county in Rubanda district was netted at a Police station where he had gone to report a case after a disagreement with a bodaboda cyclist over a transport fare.

Arinatwe is reported to have hired the bodaboda to take him to Butanda sub-county to treat patients at a fee of sh40,000, but on return he refused to pay the agreed fare and only gave the cyclist sh15,000.  The disagreement that ensued ended up at a Police desk.

When the matter was finally resolved, Police asked the 'doctor' for identification, but he failed and when he was searched he was found with an assortment of medical equipment belonging to the Government.

He was found with dental equipment, drugs such as renetrim, injecta plan, metroygl, vitacee that were labeled not for sale.  

Matte said Arinaitwe will be charged with being in possession of government stores and impersonation.
