With an investment of just sh10,000!

The advent of sports betting in the country has wooed many people to try their luck by staking cash mostly on football matches played over the weekend across different leagues all over the world.

Some have reaped while others continue to chase their luck at the different sports betting outlets spread across the country.

Though legal, some authorities have called for the scrapping and closure of the sprouting betting houses that have rendered some youth redundant and turned betting into some sort of livelihood.

But none of that will matter for Stephen Muhawe who as a first time gambler pocketed sh28.5m recently from a Sports Betting Africa outlet in Kampala. With an investment of sh10,000 Muhawe is now an instant millionaire.

"I don't want to talk much. The important thing is I won. I was passing by and I heard there was a promotion on one of the computerized games, so I just tried my luck and won. I'm not very much into betting and this just came in as a surprise," Muhawe said.

"There are many things I would wish to do with this money but I'm going to buy land first and start constructing a house," Muhawe a native of Kisoro and a resident of Kampala said.

Mahad Ssali the head of promotions said they have three jackpots which are like a bonus to reward their customers.

In the different jackpots our customers can win between sh200,000-500,000, sh1.7-5m, sh17-30m; daily, weekly and monthly respectively on the different running games.

"Muhawe won from the Virtual Horse Racing game and joins over 60 people that have won big amounts since the year started," Ssali said.

"But we strongly advise our customers to bet responsibly and with manageable amounts because betting can be addictive," Ssali stated.
