Indian fails to pay, washes hotel dishes

An Indian man was forced to wash plates in a restaurant after failing to pay sh3,500 for his meal.

The man, only identified as Prakesh, approached Mama Aidah who operates a restaurant on the highway in Iganga Municipal Council and ordered fresh fish, chapatti and a drink for lunch.

However, after finishing his meal, Prakesh pretended to go out for a short call in a corridor nearby, but escaped. He was apprehended two hours later when he was found chatting with friends.

Prakesh was asked to pay up, but he insisted that he never had lunch at Mama Aidha's restaurant.

He was then dragged back to the restaurant by two muscular men and ordered to wash plates for over three hours. Passersby cheered upon seeing the Indian doing kitchen duty.

The LC 1 chairman of Nkono zone, Ayoub Kizito, said Prakesh had made it a habit of eating at restaurants and fleeing without paying. He said this is the third time Prakesh was being arrested for failing to pay a restaurant bill.
