UNIDO is the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. The mission of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in Member States.
With funding from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), UNIDO is assisting the Government of Uganda to support vulnerable communities in Western Uganda to better adapt to the effects of climate change (CC) through the Banana Livelihood Diversification Project. The GEF project aims to reduce vulnerability of banana producing communities to climate change through banana value added activities therefore enhancing food security and employment generation.
