Man held for illegal possession of a gun

The Police in Arua are holding a man who was found in possession of an AK-47 gun. The suspect has been identified as Raymond Komakech resident of BAT village, Pajulu sub-county, Arua district. He was also found with 24 rounds of ammunition.

Josephine Angucia, the Police spokesperson for West Nile region said Komakech was arrested by flying squad unit in Arua on Friday after being tipped by an informer and up on interrogation, he revealed where the gun was.

The suspect led the team to Kibar Village, Purongo sub-county, Nwoya district from where the gun was recovered.

Currently he is detained at Arua CPS pending investigations in to illegal possession of a firearm and a past allegation of robbery registered at Nwoya CPS.

Meanwhile four people have lost their motorcycles to suspected armed robbers along Ajia Packwach road. The robbers waylay the riders during day time and rob them at gun point.

Police has now opened a Police post at the dark spot in Ajia where the robbers hide to rob people.

Another armed robbery incident is that of the Ugandan driver whose Fuso truck was taken along Uganda DR Congo border at day time when the driver was driving to Kampala market. The robbers escaped with the truck to DR Congo.
