Some sponsors made assurances of their commitment to increase sponsorship packages

The national motocross chief Patrick Van Pee has made a plea to sponsors to increase their packages next season for the development of the sport.

Van Pee was addressing sponsors Shell Helix, Cherish Hospital and Mountain Dew who pledged to extend their stay in the sport next year at a press briefing held at Lugogo on Tuesday morning.

"We have increased our championships to eight rounds from six and this means we are going to talk more about motocross and you sponsors have to understand what this means and step up your offers," Van Pee said.

Crown Beverages' Timothy Luzinda assured Van Pee of Mountain Dew's commitment to increase their sponsorship package.

"I can assure you that we shall come in a bigger style next year but what we want from you is a calendar for better planning," Luzinda stated.

Shell Helix lubricants brand manager Alex Tusungwire also promised the same as Cherish Hospital pledged continued health support.

Africa champion at Garuga

Meanwhile MX1 Africa motocross champion Jayden Boyd Ashwell will be a guest rider at the sixth and final round of the Mountain Dew National Motocross Championship at Garuga racing track in Entebbe on Sunday.

National motocross team captain Maxime Van Pee disclosed the development at the same press briefing adding that the South African is already in the country and will be training Ugandan riders.

"I'm glad to inform you that reigning MX1 Africa motocross champion Jayden Boyd Ashwell will be the guest rider on Sunday and I'm confident our fans will get value for their money," Maxime stated.

Ashwell won the MX1 category in Botswana but Maxime did not get the chance to head-to-head with him after he sustained a knee injury during practice.

The event on Sunday will determine the champions in the various categories except the MX1 and Pee Wee class where Van Pee and William Blick Jr are already champions.
