The foreign minister of Iran, Dr. Mohammad Javas Zarif and his counterpart from Uganda, Sam Kutesa, have held bilateral talks—touching on the need for Uganda to open her doors for Iranian investments in key sectors such as oil and gas.

The Iranian delegation to Uganda and the government officials have also signed a joint memorandum of understanding to enhance Iran-Uganda cooperation in trade, economic development, agriculture modernization, banking, ICT, oil and gas, among other crucial sectors that Kutesa believes will boost Uganda's transformational journey.

"Iranian companies and individuals should take advantage of the numerous opportunities available in Uganda, especially in agriculture and agro-processing, oil and gas, minerals, ICT, human resource development, energy, Tourism, and infrastructure development," Kutesa said.

Speaking on behalf of the Government of Iran, Dr. Zarif said his delegation, which included several investment companies, has concluded investment plan to inject money in areas of high-tech agricultural production including nano-fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, bio-tech, oil, gas and manufacturing.
