Kaweesi murder: Eight sent to High Court for trial

Kaweesi was murdered together with his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and driver Geoffrey Mambewa on the morning of March 17, meters away from his home in Kulambiro, Nakawa division.

Eight out of the 23 people accused of murdering former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, have been committed to the High Court for trial.

They are: Abdul Rashid Mbaziira, Araman Higenyi, Yusuf Mugerwa, Bruhan Balyejusa, Joshua Kyambadde, Jibril Kalyango, Yusuf Nyanzi and Shafik Kasujja.

They were sent to High Court by Nakawa Grade One Magistrate, Noah Ssajjabi.

Kaweesi was murdered together with his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and driver Geoffrey Mambewa on the morning of March 17, meters away from his home in Kulambiro, Nakawa division.

Prosecution alleges that the accused also used a gun or any other weapon and robbed Erau of a rifle SMG and a pistol.

It is further stated that the accused rendered support to Bruhan Balyejusa, Jimmy Ogutu and Noordin alias Taata Abudal-razak in executing terrorism.
