Ugandan tactician Sam Ssimbwa has been named the Fidelity Insurance SportPesa Premier League Coach of the Month for August.

The Sopafaka tactician beat Gor Mahia's British tactician Dylan Kerr to the award at the function hosted at Eastleigh High School ground in Kenya on Tuesday.

Apart from a plaque, Ssimbwa also walked away with a cash prize of Ksh.75,000 (Ush2.6m).

"I have won such awards in Uganda and Rwanda but winning it here gives me so much joy. Credit to my players who worked hard all through and the other members of the technical bench who assist me," Ssimbwa was quoted as saying.

At the same function, Ssimbwa hinted that his future with Sofapaka is still uncertain when the season comes to an end.

In August, Sofapaka managed to win four of their five league matches, drawing the other.

Ssimbwa joined former Gor Mahia coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira, Posta Rangers coach Sammy Omollo, Tusker's George Nsimbe, former Western Stima coach Henry Omino as one of the coaches to win the accolade in previous months.
