Mamerito gives Darts association a home

Mamerito Mugerwa has assured the Uganda Darts Association of space at his hotel in Bweyogerere.

After years without a home which has been affecting the organising of their events, Darts Association of Uganda has finally been rescued by the proprietor of Mamerito Hotel in Bweyogerere, Mugerwa Mamerito.

Mugerwa a former Darts player with Kobs Darts club in Kira Division Wakiso district has assured the Uganda Darts Association of space at his hotel in Bweyogerere.

"This hall is available for you to stage any competition at any time as long as you communicate with management in time," Mugerwa told the Darts executive at the prize giving ceremony of the Uganda Darts International Open Tournament at the same hotel.

During the tournament Club291 suits of Lira won the men's team category, Police Won the Ladies team category while  Emmanuel Bitwire beat top seeds ASP Mathew Okwi, James Otim and Christopher Ojok to win men's singles trophy .

Kenya's Rosemary Wangui who competed for Police beat all other challengers to win the Ladies Singles category.

"It was a good and well-organised tournament. I play for the East African Portland of Kenya but because my colleagues didn't turn up I had to play for Police" Wangui stated.

National Council of Sports Chairman Bosco Onyik promised to fund the Uganda team when going to Kenya next month.

He appealed to Uganda Darts Association executive to be transparent and develop the sport to its old golden days.

The event was sponsored by Mamerito hotel and proprietor Mamerito Mugerwa pledged continued support to the sport.
