Kampala City Hall court has issued another set of criminal summons against Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga after he failed to honour the previous summons that required him to appear this morning and face charges of being a public nuisance by urinating in public.

Abiriga sent his lawyer Usaama Ssebuufu from Kiwanuka and Karugire advocates to inform court that he received the summons very late when he had already travelled to his Constituency in Arua for official duties thus he could not attend court today.

However, a KCCA prosecutor Hillary Musimenta has informed court that Abirga was fully served with the previous summons through the office of the speaker and the legislator acknowledged receipt of the same.

This prompted grade one magistrate Moses Nabende to order MP Abiriga to appear in court on October 25, 2017 without fail.

Last week, grade one magistrate Beatrice Kainza summoned Abiriga to appear in court on Friday to formally plead to the charge.

Prosecution   states that on the September 26, 2017 along Kaggwa Road within Kampala city, Abiriga committed a nuisance by publically easing himself by the road side- on the fence of the Ministry of Finance.

Upon conviction, Abiriga is likely to be punished by a court fine of sh40, 000 or in default he serves a two-month imprisonment term at Luzira prison.

MP Abiriga's photo showing him urinating by the road side went viral on social media two weeks ago thus prompting KCCA prosecutors to open up charges against him.
