This was Kanyamunyu’s fourth attempt to seek bail after his first three applications were rejected by judges Elizabeth Kabanda and Yasin Nyanzi

Matthew Kanyamunyu, the key suspect in the killing of social worker Kenneth Akena, has finally been granted bail by High Court judge Wilson Kwesiga after presenting substantial sureties.

Kwesiga granted Kanyamunyu a sh10m cash bail and each of his five sureties were ordered to pay sh10m non-cash.

This was Kanyamunyu's fourth attempt to seek bail after his first three applications were rejected by judges Elizabeth Kabanda and Yasin Nyanzi.

Kanyamunyu is indicted for the murder of Akena in November last year along the Kampala-Jinja highway in Lugogo.

He is jointly charged with his girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari and elder brother Joseph Kanyamunyu, who are out on bail.
