Namakula misses the cut in Pros' Open

Uganda's only lady golfing professional Flavia Namakula has vowed to make the cut in next year's Tusker Malt Lager Uganda Open after failing on her first attempt.

Namakula found the yardage from the men's tee too long and tough on her first local outing but believes she can make amends next time round. After an opening round of 79 gross, Namakula followed it with a six-over-par 80 for a total of 159 and missed the cut by six strokes.

"It was a good outing and valuable experience for me but it was tough teeing off from where the men teed off from in this tournament. If it was on a ladies PGA tournament, I would have scored well," Namakula noted.

Namakula made her professional debut last year in South Africa where she competed in a series of Sunshine Ladies Tour tournaments, making cuts in all of them but one and is set to return for more before the year ends.
