Police officers at Latanya Police Outpost have been accused of being drunk while on duty, which is making it hard for them to carry out their work diligently.

The woman councillor 5 for Acholibur and Latanya sub-counties, Rosemary Akwoo, said on several occasions, she has received complaints from the residents about the issue.

Akwoo said this could partly explain why people are not reporting cases to the Police.

The Pader Resident District Commissioner, Justine Lungajul, who was attending a function at the sub-county, warned the officers against drinking, saying it does not only breach their code of conduct, but also messes up the security of the area.

He promised to task the District Police Ccommander of Pader to investigate the matter, and called on residents to arrest any Police officer found drank while on duty.
