Namayingo farmers receive heifers

A total of 19 farmers in Namayingo district have received heifers under Operation Wealth Creation program to enable them uplift their house hold incomes.


The heifers were handed over to the beneficiaries at Namayingo district headquarters on September 25, 2017.

The Resident District Commissioner Namayingo, Sylvester Opira while handing over the heifers cautioned the farmers against selling them off.

"It's an offense to sell these heifers and anyone found guilty will be prosecuted and charged before courts of law," he said.

Opira hailed Government for its support towards improving the lives of the people especially those in rural areas.

He urged farmers to always ensure prompt vaccination of their animals besides proper hygiene in kraals to ensure they are not hit by diseases.

The LC 5 chairman Namayingo, Ronald Sanya said the heifers will play a big role in improving the house hold incomes of people in the district.

"Majority of our people rely entirely on farming in order to earn a living yet they have been complaining of lack of capital to buy inputs like these ones," he said.

Sanya advised the government to improve on the funds allocated towards the Operation Wealth Creation program in the district ensure more farmers benefit from it.
