Three more NRM MPs have joined their colleagues who are opposed to the lifting of the presidential age limit.

The MPs, who include Butembe County MP Nelson Lufafa, Igara East MP Andrew Martial and Fort Portal Municipality MP have said their constituencies are against the move to lift the presidential age limit.

"The people of Butembe have made it clear to me not to tamper with the Constitution by amending article 102 (b). I will respect the people's will," Lufafa has said.

Andrew Martial said: "Fellow Ugandans, irrespective of our political affiliations, let's not forget our constitutional obligation bestowed upon us and the historical duty to finally cause a peaceful transfer of power.

"Let us be part of the advocacy for peaceful transfer of political power so that later we can be counted for respecting the law of the land," Martial argued.

Martial's constituency of Igara East shares boundaries with that of Igara West, which is represented by Raphael Magyezi, the mover of the motion that seeks to remove the presidential age limit.

Other NRM MPs opposed to the removal of the presidential age limit are Patrick Nsamba, John Baptist Nambeshe, Sam Lyomoki, Monica Amodingi, Gaffa Mbwatekamwa, Barnabas Tinkasimire, Theodore Ssekikubo and Dokolo County MP Felix Okot Ogong.
