Agaba wants court to compel the university to hold a special graduation ceremony for her and also issue a public apology.

Students celebrate after graduation. Agaba says omitting her name from a graduation list at Makerere University caused her mental anguish and embarrassment

A former master's student of Makerere University Business School has dragged Makerere University to the High Court asking that it orders the university to hold a special graduation ceremony for her.

Patience Agaba, who was pursuing a master's degree in human resource management, says her name was unlawfully omitted from the recent graduation list.

Agaba says she was admitted at Makerere University in August 2010 and posted to study at MUBS, where she successfully completed her studies in 2016.

However, she says her name was omitted from the final graduation list by Makerere University without giving her any explanations, something which has caused her mental anguish and embarrassment.

She now wants court to compel the university to hold a special graduation ceremony for her and also issue a public apology in the local newspapers to that effect.

Court has given Makerere University only 15 days within which to respond to these claims.
