Kayihura calls for calm as another body is found

The body of the woman was the 20th discovered dumped in Kampala and Wakiso within the last two-and-a-half months.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Gen. Kale Kayihura, on Monday evening called for calm following the discovery of yet another body in Nyanama, Wakiso district.

Kayihura insisted that the Nyanama incident should not be linked to both the Entebbe and Nansana murders, adding that the police were investigating the death.

"This should not be comparable. It's just one of those criminal cases that the Police are investigating and we will get to the bottom of the matter," Kayihura said. He insisted that the security was in control of the situation.

"For the last one-and-a-half weeks, we have not had any murders reported in Entebbe or Nansana because of our continuous engagement with the members of the public," Kayihura noted.

According to Kayihura, they had followed some leads, which led to the arrest of some people they believe are key suspects. He noted that some people had been charged while others were helping with the investigations. He assured the country that the Police were committed to protecting life and property and that they would hunt down all the criminal elements and have them prosecuted.

Kayihura urged members of the public to share whatever information they had which could help in investigations.

On Monday, the Police recovered a body of an unknown woman dumped in Nyanama.

The body was the 20th discovered dumped in Kampala and Wakiso within the last two-and-a-half months.
