Museveni visits Equatorial Guinea's Port Bata

President Yoweri Museveni, accompanied by his host President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, has visited Equatorial Guineas' Port city of Bata on the mainland in Central Africa making a stopover at the Bata maritime Walkway and the Bata Sea port.

The Port of Bata is popular for its free trade zone, petroleum infrastructure, large container ships as well as main exports including coffee and timber and is undergoing an expansion as dry port (terminal of containers) and bulk freight traffic.

Museveni and Nguema later made a stop in Djibloho, the unfinished new city where the country has shifted its capital.

Earlier this year, the government of Equatorial Guinea moved its headquarters from the coastal capital of Malabo to an unfinished city deep in the rich rainforest.

Nguema aims to use the country's oil wealth to make Djibloho also known as Oyala, a ‘city of the future' with well-planned infrastructure, roads and schools.

Djibloho is surrounded by several national parks and is not far from the eastern border with Gabon. Equatorial Guinea is third largest exporter of oil in Africa.

The two Presidents were received at Djibloho on Saturday evening by people of the community ahead of dinner hosted at the Djibloho Grand Hotel.
