URA FC return to Namboole

Aug 24, 2017

URA FC said Thursday that the stadium management had granted them authority to return to the facility.

URA FC return to their former home ground Mandela National stadium, Namboole after two seasons at the Mehta Stadium, Lugazi.

The club confirmed on Thursday that effective September 13, 2017, they will host their home games at Namboole.

URA FC argue that their decision to return to Namboole was forced by concerns by the Uganda Football Licensing Board over the status of the pitch at Mehta Stadium, Lugazi.

"URA FC is a compliant institution to both domestic and international policies and regulations governing the management of football as a sporting activity," the club noted on their website.

Together with SC Villa and Police FC in 2015, the tax collectors quit Namboole after accusing its management of what they called exorbitant fees and yet terms of payment were unfavourable.

URA FC said Thursday that the stadium management had granted them authority to return to the facility.

URA FC first adopted Namboole as their home ground in 2004. Their first match at Namboole will be the season opener against UPDF.
