Other than the undergraduate programmes, the University is also calling for applications for some of their graduate studies.

Almost two weeks after the start of the academic year, Makerere University is calling upon applicants for up to 1,480 slots that have since remained vacant under the undergraduate programmes.

The programmes at the colleges of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Computing and Information Technology and Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bio Security also have up to 50 fully paid for government scholarships.

Other than the undergraduate programmes, the University is also calling for applications for some of their graduate studies.

According to the Deputy Academic Registrar in charge of undergraduate programmes, Charles Sentongo, these are programmes that have since been reviewed by the University.

Some of the programmes according to Sentongo are new while other have been merged. There are also those that have been expanded.

The advertised courses include bachelor's degrees in information systems and technology, science in forestry, science in tourism and hospitality management, geographical sciences, industrial livestock and business among others.

These could not be included in the first round of application cycle as they had not yet been approved by the National Council for Higher Education.

He however explained that the University targets to have the process concluded in the next two weeks so as not to disrupt the flow of the academic year.

A total of 16,021 students have so far been admitted under the private sponsorship scheme at the University for this academic year that started on 12th August.

The university has a total target of 20,000 students enrolled this academic year including those at its affiliated institutions.

The application for the programmes is open up to the 31st of this month. You can also find details in today's New Vision newspaper.
