Police hunts for woman suspected of killing 5-yr-old daughter

Police in Soroti is hunting for a woman who allegedly murdered her five year old daughter. 

Rose Akurut a resident of Omugenya village in Gweri Sub County, Soroti district is on the run after killing Peace Atim with a hoe on Saturday.

According to Michael Odongo, the Kyoga East Police spokesperson, Florence Akamo, the grandmother of the deceased claims she served the girl porridge and later found her dead after returning from a nearby borehole. 

Speaking to New Vision Odongo explained that medical reports indicate that Akurut has been suffering from mental illness. 

Akurut left behind her 18-year-old child that hasn't been breastfed since Saturday.
