Students flagged off for FEASSA Games

The competition is played between schools from Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya

A total of 1080 participants from 77 schools from Uganda have been flagged off by  State Minister for Primary Education Rosemary Sseninde  ahead  of the Brookside East Africa Secondary School Games to be held in Gulu

The function was held at National Council of Sports headquarters, Lugogo.

"We request you to be disciplined and try to build the good image of the country. As government we are ready to support you in any way," stated Sseninde.

East Africa Secondary Schools Games is an annual competition played between schools from Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya.

Over 3500 participants from 180 schools are expected to be in Gulu by Thursday. Action will kick off on Saturday ahead of the opening ceremony on Sunday where President Yoweri Museveni is expected as the chief guest.

They will be competing in 13 different sports disciplines; football, basketball, volleyball, netball, handball, athletics, hockey, rugby, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis and swimming at the St. Joseph's Layibi, Pece Stadium, Kaunda Grounds and Sacred Heart.

The one-week event will climax on August 27​
