2012 FDC elections were rigged, says Nandala

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi insists that the 2012 President General elections were rigged in favour of his opponent, Major Gen. Mugisha Muntu.

He however said that he decided not to contest for the same post again but assured all voters that with him in the position of Secretary General, such scenarios would never happen again.

He said that although he failed to overturn the results, he had enough evidence to indicate that even ‘dead' delegates were allowed to vote. He said he could not believe when he found on the voting list some delegates who had died and one district chairperson who was abroad but voted.

"But as long as I'm here, no such thing will ever happen again," he said.

 
Although Nandala stated that he would serve all the candidates equally, journalists insisted that he still harboured feelings against his former rival Mugisha Muntu.  

He later said he was not comfortable with Gen. Muntu's style of leadership, especially keeping himself in the office all the time yet the party would be stronger if he kept in the public. "You wonder why someone is ever in the office yet FDC's strengthen is in the public and this is where we want to see our leaders," he said.

Nandala also denied allegations that he had been lined up for a job in Bank of Uganda. "I head a group of about 600 farmers in Bugishu, I head a clan and I have my money, what would force me to work in Bank of Uganda," he said.
