The sub county received only 10 liters of rocket pesticide distributed to 11 parishes

Farmers in Usuk Sub County, Katakwi district have criticised the local leaders for being responsible for the food shortage in the sub county.

Speaking to New Vision, farmers accused their leaders for allegedly swindling pesticides procured by the government to curb the fall army worm which destroyed crops.

"We no longer trust our leaders because we don't benefit from any government program that targets us but they should consider our cry" one of the residents who preferred anonymity said.

However, Raymond Odeke, the area LC3 chairperson defended the sub county leadership, saying government procured little few pesticides which could not benefit all locals.

Odeke observed that the sub county received only 10 liters of rocket pesticide distributed to 11 parishes.

Katakwi district received only 110 litres of rocket pesticide and many locals are not pleased with government's support.
