The two-night golf package the golfers are going to enjoy is worth sh6.8m for each pair

Three Uganda Golf Club golfers will live to remember last Friday's Ladies Night tournament after their golf round won them a trip of a lifetime to South Africa.

What is usually a quiet competition attracted a record 160 players following a partnership by the ladies section with Sun International Group of South Africa.

All were in pursuit of the all-expenses paid trip to South Africa, which was the ultimate prize for the day's winner. But it was Geofrey Katoro who returned 45 stable ford points that will enjoy the fully paid trip for two to Johannesburg, stay at the Sun City Resort Palace for two nights and play a round of golf at the Gary Player or Lost City Country Clubs with halfway house vouchers.

Katoro will be joined by Patrick Kabonero and Lydia Mutesi who won from a raffle draw made after the tournament. The two will also enjoy similar privileges at the Cascades and Soho hotels.

The two-night golf package the golfers are going to enjoy is worth sh6.8m for each pair including air fare and taxes in economy class, airport transfers, luxury twin room accommodation, full English breakfast and two rounds of golf at the Gary Player or the Lost City golf clubs.

Jennifer Beattie Group Manager Africa Sales and Marketing Director Sun City Resort and South African ambassador to Uganda Lekoa Solly Mollo and South Africa Airways Country Manager-Uganda presided over the prize ceremony.

Lady vice-captain Anne Abeja said the exciting sponsorship followed their continuous engagement with their sponsors all intended to promote the game of golf in the country.

"We gave this offer because we want Ugandan golfers to experience South Africa and Sun City and enjoy some of South Africa phenomenal golf courses but Uganda is also an important market for Sun International," Beattie said.

Birigwa said they will continue sponsoring the ladies section tournaments every quarter.
